For more than fifty years, Dr. Mildred Ball Bright has served the City of Houston, the nation and various international communities with her extraordinary abilities as a registered nurse in Health care and human services agencies and intuitions, public schools, a vocational and therapeutic counselor, urban researcher and planner, quality assurance health care professional, public health practitioner and college professor. She received her Master’s in Education from Texas Southern University and her Doctorate of Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health.
She developed her expertise in Health Service Management and Evaluation. Her arena of service includes; health service research in the role of adjunct and full-time faculty at Prairie View A & M University, University of Texas School of Public Health, Texas Southern University, and The Houston Community College System.
As a creative scholar, Dr. Bright has served as a health professional on local, national, and international levels. She was one of thirty- five international expert Round Table panelists for Oxford University in England. There she presented novel teaching techniques in health and social research, planning and conducting symposiums, seminars, and community service through numerous local and national board positions.
During Dr. Bright’s tenure at De Bakey Veterans Administration Medical Center, she served as a Therapeutic Counselor, Quality Control Officer, Regional Medical Educator, and facilitator for health administration interns.
Dr. Bright has been married to Mr. Willie S. Bright for the past 57 years. They are the proud parents of two children and the grandparents of seven. She has provided many services to the community including an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, and a “Life Time” board of directors’ thirty-five of the Ensemble Theatre. Inc.
